VEGAS PBS V-ME TO BROADCAST PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE IN SPANISH
Simulcast of Debate to Air Friday, September 26 at 6 p.m.
Las Vegas, NV – Vegas PBS V-me presents the first presidential debate of
the 2008 national election, in a live Spanish-speaking simulcast on
Friday, September 26 at 6 p.m. on Cox cable channel 113, Dish TV
channel 9414 and DishLATINO 846.
Through the channel’s PARTICIPA 2008 programming, Vegas PBS V-me will
immediately follow the live debate coverage with a one-hour long, interactive forum
hosted by Jorge Gestoso beginning at 7:30 p.m. Political analysts will be joined by
representatives from the democratic and republican parties to discuss the debate with live
audience participation and comments from viewers at home. At-home viewers will be
able to share their opinions by sending emails and can use text messaging to vote for who
they believe won the debate.
“This is a rare and historic opportunity for all of the Hispanics in Las Vegas,” said Tom
Axtell, general manager of Vegas PBS. “This simulcast allows more of our community
to have an up-to-the-minute voice about the Presidential election.”
Vegas PBS V-me (pronounced veh-meh, which means “see me”) is a Spanish-language
public television station that delivers an exclusive mix of original productions, world-
class acquired content and specially customized public television programming,
presented from a U.S. Hispanic perspective. Programming and events reflect a wide
range of interests and genres including: lifestyle, children and family, factual and current
affairs, contemporary films, performance, arts and culture specific to the lifestyle and
interests of Las Vegas’ Latino community. Vegas PBS V-me debuted in August 2007.
